Trail Description - Spencer Smith Trail (Parker Mountain)

About Trail Descriptions

The Spencer Smith Trail is an easy trail up Parker Mountain in Strafford. The lower part of the trail is an old woods road while the upper section along the ridge is generally less steep but contains some ledge sections. Although slightly higher than neighboring Blue Job, the ledges on Parker Mountain provide only limited views.

From I-93 exit 15 in Concord, go E on I-393 to its end and continue on US Routes 4/202 until they split about 21 miles from I-93. Go L on US Route 202 and in .4 miles turn L again on NH Route 202A. Follow NH Route 202A for 5.8 miles and turn L on NH Route 126. Continue to parking area on L about 2.6 miles from NH Route 202A.

Description

From the road, the Spencer Smith Trail begins a steady ascent on an old woods road, staying on sidehill to the S of the ridgeline. After about half a mile, the trail climbs R to near the ridgeline and continues over a series of wooded ledges to a large cairn at the summit at 1.2 miles, where a herd path continues. The blue-blazed Link enters from the L at some ledges halfway along.
