From the junction of the North Twin Trail and the outlook spur near the summit of North Twin Mountain (the actual summit is located along the outlook spur), the North Twin Spur descends mostly gradually but with a few steep ledges, passing some cliffs and a blowdown area. From the col, the trail ascends to a shoulder at about 1.0 miles, where the trail is in low scrub and the summit of South Twin can be seen ahead. The trail goes back into larger vegetation and passes two rock outcrops before reaching the junction with the Twinway at 1.3 miles.
