Franconia Falls is located on Franconia Brook in the town of Lincoln, and is most easily reached by the Lincoln Woods Trail/Wilderness Trail from NH Route 112. The falls is actually a cascade over a sloping rock, and runs all summer although most impressive in high water. There are other rapids and pools in the brook as well.

The trail leaves the Lincoln Woods Trail/Wilderness Trail just S of the bridge over Franconia Brook, about where Franconia Shelter is shown on the USGS map although the shelter itself has been removed. The first part of the trail may be hard to follow due to the many herd paths left from when this was a heavily-used camping area, but try to follow the yellow blazes upstream parallel to Franconia Brook. The trail approaches the brook where pools and cascades are visible, and at about .4 miles Franconia Falls is reached. This is a sloping ledge with water flowing year-round although naturally most impressive in high water.
The trail continues up an old woods road on sidehill above the brook, past several more deep pools. The official trail ends at an "End of Trail" sign at .5 miles, but the woods road continues although it is now more overgrown with deadfalls. Vague herd paths continue up the S side of Lincoln Brook to the Lincoln Brook Trail, but hikers without navigational skills should not attempt to follow them.
Lincoln Woods Trail/Wilderness Trail groomed for skiing and hiking.
Map Notes: The USGS map does not show this trail, but it runs up the W side of Franconia Brook from the Franconia Shelter (now removed) site to Franconia Falls and beyond
