Trail Description - East Rattlesnake Trail

About Trail Descriptions

The East Rattlesnake Trail provides an ascent of the east peak of The Rattlesnakes from Pinehaven Road and can be used in many loop hikes. It is narrow and steep with one brook crossing.

One possible loop is to start at NH Route 113, go up the Old Bridle Path to the west peak, take the Ridge Trail to the east peak, and descend the East Rattlesnake Trail and Pasture Trail to Pinehaven Road. Return to the car by walking .2 miles W (R) on the road to the Undercut Trail, follow that trail back to NH Route 113, and go N (R) about .1 miles to the Old Bridle Path trailhead where you started. The whole loop is about 3.6 miles with 900 feet of elevation gain.

Distance: From Pasture Trail to Ridge Trail, about .4 miles one-way

Elevation gain: About 500 feet, nominal on return

Just across the brook, the Five Finger Point Trail turns R and the East Rattlesnake Trail turns L uphill. After a relatively continuous ascent of .4 miles, the East Rattlesnake Trail ends at the Ridge Trail. Turn L for the west peak or go R .1 miles to the viewpoint on the east peak.
