Description

This should be called a non-trail description as there is no trail. Just walk uphill to the summit. The grade starts out moderate but becomes quite steep in the upper portion. It may be harder to find your way back as from the summit every way is downhill, so check your compass before starting down.

There are some scrubby areas on the mountain but the worst can be bypassed. Some hikers have turned around when they met a bear.

Off Season

Bear Notch Road is not plowed, and may be gated during snow and mud seasons.
